The Deane Upholstery Service is managed by husband and wife team, Chris and Anthea Muggleton.

Anthea Muggleton with her many years experience in the home interiors industry is only too pleased to advise on colour and durability.

Christopher Charles Muggleton.

On leaving school I undertook a five year apprenticeship with W.A. Chapman & Son, Taunton (Now Debenhams), after which I was awarded my "Learners Certificate". I then spent 18 months in the upholstery department of Tonedale Hospital, Taunton carrying out the maintenance of upholstery and soft furnishing.

In 1965 I started my own business in Wellington, Somerset, where I am still trading after 36 years. During that time I have maintained close links with The Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers of which I became a member in 1968. I am the vetting and recruitment officer for Wales & the West Country and a Director of the Association.

During the last ten years I have carried out many reports on behalf of the Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers, mainly dealing with complaints relating to quality of work and material and through the Association I have been able to keep abreast of the legal requirements relating to flame retardancy.

I am now semi-retired but the business is still trading. These days I tend to specialise in restoration of chairs, antiques and the more unusual items. I remain an active member of the Association and continue to sit on the Board of Directors. I also act as a consultant to the Association and other leading bodies in our industry.
